I would like to thank Saal Digital for giving me the opportunity to create a professional Line photobook, I am so pleased with it's quality and hand-made finish. I am studying for an MA degree in Fine Art and work with books. The book is beautifully finished in a linen fabric which complimented my own images of nature but there are many materials to chose from and I was tempted by the acrylic cover! They have an easy software design package which can be downloaded onto your computer. It is very straight forward to use; giving options to edit/size and design your book. I particularly like the pages where I have used an image over two, the latflat design looks good and is ideal for panoramic images and I wish I had made more of those. I added text too. Whether you want to create a beautiful book of memories or(in my case)a photography research book, I would recommend Saal.
I promised myself I would have a year off from exhibiting, to 'just play with ideas'.....that didn't happen! when the application arrived for TTP 2019 I just had to send in my proposal. I have always enjoyed the two days of the book fair; its good to be 'with the work'. It is good to talk with visitors and there are many but also great to be with other creatives'. I have happily enjoyed taking photos using my macro lens recently and have combined these with my ideas for the work this year. It is still very much a work in progress, but fingers crossed I hope to create a concertina book in glass.
The Book fair takes place at the Forum in Norwich over a two day period, as well as the exhibitors, visitors can enjoy storytelling, workshops and music. In addition there is ‘turn the page Artists Book Symposium on Thursday 16th which explores subjects and ideas from across the world of book art. I'm just back from a few days away and thoroughly looking forward to showing as part of The Curious World of Artists Books; feeling more relaxed about 'putting myself out there' now! I always feel a little nervous as well as excited at the thought of exhibiting a piece of work, so setting up at Blickling is exciting and also a little bit scary! I'm showing with a wonderful group of artists, many of whom have become good friends over the years and I look forward to catching up with them and their work enormously.
Well, we may be able to eat at the dining table again! As any maker knows, the dining table is the first space for all ideas and projects (even those with a studio space!) it has been cleared and the exhibition is set up and opens this morning!
Blickling Hall and the National Trust are 'celebrating the book' this year and The Curious World of Artists Books is showing as part of a larger installation within the Hall itself The Word Defiant, which launches tomorrow - 1st May 2018.

This was my second visit to the newly opened Kettle's Yard after it's expansion.....and I loved it just as much (again!). The work by artist Rana Begum; a site specific installation housed in St Peters Church looked amazing in the Easter Sunday light and was the piece I was unable to see on my previous visit. Although the current exhibition has closed, this piece can be viewed until 29th April 2018.
I have always loved the house and I have many 'if I could take just one piece home' favourites! but it's the collections of nature finds, alongside these pieces that I find captivating! It feels like a privilege to enter such a personal space with their collections of round stones and seed pods from foreign lands interlaced with a Ben Nicholson paintings and a drawings by a family members. It has to be the very best way to view art, in my opinion.
